Private Pilot Licence

The private pilot's licence is completed on the Cessna 172. All training is structured to achieve the maximum benefit from the hours flown and ensures that hours are not flown unnecessarily, minimizing the final cost for the training. The training is divided into various phases. The phases in order are: Aircraft Familiarization Handling, Circuit Procedures, General Handling Procedures, Navigation and finally testing. Once the student has completed his / her General Handling Training and successfully completed and in-house exam, he / she will be issued with an Student Pilots Licence (SPL) and they commence with their solo training.

The theory is integrated into the practical flight training, thus allowing the student to gain the most benefit and understanding from the theory. The PPL includes 25 hours dual 15 hours solo and 5 hours instrument flying. All training is completed on the Cessna 172. Final testing is done by a SACAA approved Grade II instructor.

The PPL has 7 theory subjects:
  • Airlaw
  • Human Performance and limitations
  • Meteorology
  • Aircraft technical and general
  • Flight Planning and performance
  • Navigation
  • Principles of flight
Superior Pilot Services now offers a unique integrated PPL course which is structured in such a way that the student will obtain his PPL in 10 weeks. The student will be issued with a full schedule for the 10 weeks and it will include dedicated study times, flying and lecture sessions, ground school classes and exam dates. We have also built in buffer time should there be weather delays experienced. This program is ideal for students who wish to become a career pilot. Students will have access to our student centre and there will be Instructors available to answer any question they struggle with whilst studying. Upon completion of the PPL, the student can then continue on to do his / her CPL and once again a program will be structured so that the CPL will be completed at the end of 12 months.
